CULTURE UNITES US

Willing to practice English and get to know new places makes it easier for us to socialise.

Have you ever been excited about a plan but some fears made you put down that offer? Making new friends was a huge challenging aspect that both of us have been dealing with for years. Nevertheless, our aim for visiting Bath and brushing up on our English level had led us to take this opportunity.

First touch. As soon as we arrived at the airport, we started to interact with our traveling mates because we didn’t know anybody before. Therefore, we found out that we have similar interests with almost everybody and we also enjoy interacting with them.

Feelings. Undoubtedly, the first time was the hardest one and as the days passed we had gained self confidence and made friends while we were discovering British culture.

A personal experience. A couple of days after arriving in Bath and starting classes, we met people our age from different countries in Europe, such as Italy, Germany, Switzerland… and at first, apart from being strangers, the only way to communicate with them was in English, not like with your Spanish colleagues and that is one of the reasons why you may find it difficult to interact with foreigners. In my case, it is difficult for me to leave my comfort zone and interact with people outside of my friends and trusted people, but little by little and over time, you begin to trust yourself and let go when it comes to talking and interacting… Thanks to activities outside of classes, you can get to know very interesting people with tastes very similar to yours, even if they do not have the same nationality as you. And I assure you that after each one returns home, you continue to maintain contact with those new friends who bring you true friendship. You don’t know what turns life can take and if you’re going to meet again, that’s why I recommend taking advantage of every second of the experience and not being afraid of making mistakes when speaking or worrying about what they may think of you. These trips give you unique memories and special people who will accompany you for the rest of your life and perhaps mark you as a person.

Conclusion. Our trip to Bath changed our lives because of the people we’ve met, the places we’ve visited, the kindness of our host family, the advice of our teacher and the experiences we’ve had during the trip.In the end, we want to make the most of our stay in Bath and we’d like to share some advice such as dealing with your fears instead of getting away of them, taking action in spite of the fact that you may make mistakes, being yourself will open you new doors, trusting people that are here for helping you and realizing that you won’t ever know everything due to there’s always something new to learn.
